APpLICATION procedure
​Candidates from all over the world are eligible for this excellence programme funded by the European Union.
The DAFM offer scholarships (21 seats), tuition fee free seats (10) and also self-funded places.

* Please note, students who have already benefitted from an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional scholarship  

Application criteria

​If you are interested in applying for the Erasmus+ Master Programme in sustainable agriculture, food technology and food production, please check if you meet the requirements below:
  • Previous studies - Awarded Bachelor of Science degree (min. 180 ECTS) in Agriculture/Agronomy, Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Master 1 Genetics, Molecular Biosciences or related relevant fields OR students in their last Bachelor year (only for EU candidates, due to lengthy visa procedures). Please find the previous studies accepted from all parties without further prescription of ECTS credits here ​
  • Due to the high number of applications, applicants must have an average GPA of at least 75% or higher.
  • English Language Proficiency - A minimum  B2 in English except when English is your mother tongue. If not, please provide one of the official English tests such as:  
         *   TOEIC: minimum 785 points
         *   IELTS: score 6.0 or better
         *  TOEFL: paper-based 577/computer based 233/
               internet based 90-91

​        *  Cambridge: Certificate of Advanced English         
        *  First cetificate in English (FCE)
        *  Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
        *  Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
        *  Business English Certificate (BEC) Vantage- at least "Passed"
        *  Business English Certificate (BEC) Higher
        *  Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)
  • We also accept a university attesting English is the medium of instruction of your higher education, HOWEVER due to the high interest shown in our programme we warmly recommend every applicant to provide an official international language test. (PLEASE NOTE! Applicants who select BOKU/Vienna for the 2nd year, have to provide the proof of English proficiency required by BOKU at the time of application!)​

Documents required to apply

​If you meet all requirements and would like to apply to DAFM, the following list of documents will have to be attached to the application in scanned format:
  • Copy of your diploma(s) / degree(s) certificate(s) (add an English translation) or average GPA certificate from your university (in the year of graduation, for EU applicants only)
  • Copy of transcript of records for your whole degree and a grading scale (add an English translation)
  • Copy of official language certificate attesting language skills in English (Level min. B2)
  • Curriculum Vitae in a European format and motivation letter -  Curriculum Vitae must be in Europass format (https://europa.eu/europass/en/create-europass-cv) 
  • Passport 
  • Proof of current and exact place of residence (see requirements below) *
  • Two recommendation letters **
  • Declaration on Honour ***
  • Privacy Statement DAFM ***
  • Other documents you consider relevant for the application (such as an affidavit, in case your name has changed in your documents, medical proof of special needs, DOI-number of publications, link of abstract books of the participation in conferences) 
  • PLEASE, prioritize. Only submit the 3 most important publications/abstract of books. Publications and participations without proof won't be considered.
* An official document/card issued by authority stating your place of 
   residence

** Within the application procedure on the DreamApply surface two             email addresses of former lecturers or employers have to be 
     submitted. The system automatically will send an evaluation form to         the given person which has to be filled out by him/her. The form will 
​     be submitted anonymously via DreamApply.
     Please remind your referees of the automatic message sent by system, 
     might be put to the spam folder.
 
*** These two documents are to be found in the DreamApply system,               need to be read and signed.

! Important note !

All documents must be in pdf-format. Documents in other formats or pictures will not be considered.
All documents must be in English language. If it is not the case, add an English translation done by a certified, court-approved translator officially recognized by the issuing country.
​If you are selected to DAFM you must provide legalized documents such as your diploma, transcript of records or birth certificate. Those documents are not required at application stage so you don’t need to initiate expenditures in case of a non-selection of your application.
Referees often take time to write their recommendation letters so we strongly recommend you to take care of it well in advance.
  •  A special need seat​ is available, please be aware that for SNI students the same general application procedure is required!

  • The application must be filled out in English.
  • The online application procedure takes some time so take that into consideration
  • Before starting your application, make sure you have all the required documents you will have to attach to your application (PDF format)
  • Don’t wait until the last moment to apply or the platform might shut down due to too much applications received at the same time
  • You can’t submit more than one application

Be aware that your application will be rejected without any possibility of appeal if your application is not complete, is not filled in                                                                             correctly or if you have uploaded wrong documents!

In particular, certain data of the scholarship holders and non-scholarship holders is shared with the Agency and treated according to this privacy statement
